Overview & Highlights

If you find yourself wandering the vibrant streets of Fortitude Valley, make a stop at the delightful DDet Cafe Thai Restaurant. Nestled at 362 Water St, this hidden gem brings the flavors of Thailand to the heart of Brisbane with warmth and authenticity that beckons food lovers everywhere. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this café promises a culinary experience that leaves a lasting impression.

As you step inside, the ambience reflects a casual charm, inviting you to unwind and savor traditional Thai dishes that are both aromatic and fulfilling. Their menu is packed with a variety of options, each infused with the brilliant spices, fresh herbs, and rich flavors that Thai cuisine is renowned for. I was particularly taken by their signature Spicy Chicken Larb. This vibrant salad features chicken mince combined with red onions, chili powder, and a special homemade dressing that delivers a delightful kick. It's priced at A$20.90—a worth-it choice for those craving something refreshing yet spicy.

DDet's curry offerings are equally enticing. The Red Curry and Green Curry are crafted in coconut milk, accompanied by seasonal vegetables and aromatic basil, making them both rich and satisfying. For those seeking a twist on traditional flavors, the Pahang Curry introduces ground peanuts and kaffir lime leaves that elevate the dish to a whole new level of flavor. As one reviewer noted, “the green curry was packed with veggies and the spice level was just right,” showcasing the restaurant's dedication to quality and authenticity.

Another highlight worth mentioning is their noodles and rice selections, specifically the Coconut Rice. This subtle yet rich accompaniment, with its creamy texture, beautifully complements the savory and spicy dishes, enhancing each bite. The feedback from satisfied patrons underscores the notion that DDet not only serves delicious food but also provides great value for money, especially with their lunch special menu.

Despite the charming dishes served, some diners mentioned a need for improved service, suggesting that a few more smiles could enhance the overall experience. However, the genuine flavors of DDet Cafe Thai Restaurant surely outshine any service hiccups. Patrons rave about the deliciousness of the food, with many claiming it's a worthy contender among the best Thai restaurants in inner Brisbane.

As the café continues to gather momentum, with patrons like Belle encouraging the dining community to embrace its authentic flavors, it captivates both new and returning visitors. Imagine enjoying a refreshing Thai milk tea on their quaint veranda, a perfect spot for soaking in sunny afternoons. Whether dining in or taking away, DDet Cafe is a testament to the robust and lively spirit of Thai cuisine in Brisbane. Where to Visit

Visitor Testimonials (300)

Tried this spot on a lazy Sunday with my wife. We were craving something spicy and this place delivered. The green curry was packed with veggies and the spice level was just right. Spring rolls were crisp and not oily – bonus. Ambience is nothing fancy, more like a local joint. Service was polite but they could smile a bit more. Pricing was fine, not overly expensive. Good enough to visit again, but not the kind of meal you rave about to mates.

Absolutely delicious and authentic Thai food! We ordered the Phat Kee Mao or most restaurant called this as Drunken Noodles and the Spicy Stir-Fried Clams with Chili & Basil, both were good, but the clams were the standout! So flavorful and tasty, just like in Thailand. A little salty on their own, but perfect when eaten with rice. Highly recommended!! You must try! The Thai milk tea was also good, refreshing and balanced the spice really well. Highly recommend this place if you love real Thai flavors. Will definitely be coming back!

The restaurant is closed until further notice due the leasing issues! I was so sad to see the notice on the door today! To the team and management running this place, your food has been the most authentic Thai food I've ever had to taste IN Brissie. I'm so sad to see you all leave and wish the very best for your future endeavours!!

This has to be one of the best Thai restaurants in inner Brisbane. Both dishes that I tried from the lunch special menu were tasty and good value for money. The standard of service is well above what I expected. I will be going back for more!

Food was gorgeous and generous portions. Staff super friendly. I had the green curry to take away. Im keen to try some more of their menu (will report back when I do). The cakes looked lush too, so I might go there for a coffee and a cake at lunch sometime soon. It looks like a good little spot to sit on a sunny afternoon with it's cute little veranda. Bit quiet but i think they're super new so i imagine they're still building their client base. I've popped some pics up. Don't judge them on my poor plating skills

The best tasting thai food in the valley. I've been here several times and I am never disappointed. The authentic tasting dishes make me feel like I am back in Thailand. I highly recommend the mango sticky rice dessert.

This little place was just an amazing discovery and the food was the best Thai myself and my partner have ever eaten the flavours were amazing

One of my favorite Thai restaurants in Brisbane. I’ve been here several times and the food has never disappointed me. The flavors are authentically Thai, bold, especially the fish dishes and stir-fries, which are exceptionally well-prepared. The curry dishes are also well-rounded in flavor and not too spicy. My favorite dishes are grilled pork neck, fried fish, and various salads. The atmosphere of the restaurant might seem ordinary at first, but I assure you, you will not be disappointed with the taste of the food, all at a reasonable price.
